How to Make the Veins in Your Arms Pop Out

You're probably very aware that you can make the veins in your arms pop out by simply tying a tourniquet around your bicep and stop the blood-flow. It makes the veins in your forearm pop out but it's not permanent, obviously. To get your arm veins popping out permanently you need to do the following, in no specific order.

1. Reduce body fat percentage

Body builders have veins popping out because they have a low body-fat percentage. The veins that you see popping out are the surface veins, so the less padding you got between skin and veins, the more surface veins you'll see. Men show a dramatic vascularity when body-fat is below 10%, women need to get body-fat below 15% to see the same results.

2. Lower sodium intake

Sodium causes water retention. When your body retains water, your skin puffs out and this obscures your veins. 2,300mg of salt is one teaspoon, which is too much salt for a bodybuilder trying to show vascularity, you need to reduce salt intake to 1,500mg per day.

3. Build muscle

Building muscle yields protruding veins, this means you need to adjust your training to produce muscle and that means not using 3 X 10 reps but to go heavy and rather do 3 to 5 sets of 3 to 5 reps each. Start by doing 6 X 5 reps and then slowly increase the weight. Muscles are built by exerting force to make them grow.

4. Amp up your cardio

Cardio burns fat and gets you lean. High intensity interval training (HIIT) has now proven itself to be the best option for losing fat, fast.

5. Drink water

Drinking lots of water throughout the day keeps you and your muscles hydrated, which helps reduce water retention. Drinking too much water can actually help your body flush out any excess water, lowering water retention. It should be noted that many bodybuilders actually dehydrate themselves deliberately before competing to increase vascularity temporarily, however this is very dangerous.

6. Eat less carbs

Carbohydrates increase the fluids your body needs to hold. Eating any low carb diet will get you lower water retention where it matters most, under the skin. This improves vascularity dramatically.

7. Safely consider diuretics

Diuretics will rid your body of any excess water, making your veins prominent. There are natural diuretics like espresso but you also need to know that taking diuretics can be extremely dangerous as well.
